MUMAC at Milan Design Week 2022

MUMAC per la Milano Design Week 2022 In calendario due eventi per tutti gli appassionati di design e arte del caffè espresso

MUMAC, Gruppo Cimbali’s Coffee Machine Museum, is again this year organising a
number of initiatives to celebrate Milan Design Week, taking place from 6 to 12 June. Over
the years, Milan’s festival of ‘Fuori Salone’ events has cemented the city as a reference
point for design enthusiasts.

MUMAC is organising two initiatives during the week.

Heritage and design behind coffee machines

The first event is part of the official Design Week of the City of Milan: the round table at
the ADI Design Museum on 8 June at 6 pm entitled ‘Heritage and design behind coffee
machines’. The talk builds on the contents of the book ‘SENSO ESPRESSO. Coffee.
Style. Emotions.’ in which the professional espresso machine represents an icon of Made
in Italy and of a heritage recognisable the world over. The talk will see professionals from
the world of culture and design discuss how style, design and innovation are today
increasingly at the service of Corporate Cultural Responsibility in value creation.

Speakers:
Silvia Adler, Project Manager at MuseoCity
Antonella Andriani, Deputy Chair at ADI
Michela Antiga, Antiga Edizioni
Antonio Calabrò, Chair at Museimpresa
Giovanna Castiglioni, Fondazione Castiglioni
Edgardo Ferrero, Services Director at Cimbali Group
Barbara Foglia, MUMAC Manager
Elisa Storace, Curator at Kartell Museo
Modera: Patrick Abbattista, Founder & CEO of Design Wanted

machines.’ Book presentation with round table

Signs and Designs at MUMAC

The second event will see MUMAC in Binasco open its doors on 12 June from 2 to 5.30
pm for ‘Signs and Drawings at MUMAC’. To mark Milan Design Week, the museum will be
transformed into an urban and cultural landscape that, with its architecture and objects, will
become the stage for the Milan-based group Urban Sketchers. The group is the local
division of a global movement that brings together drawing enthusiasts who meet to capture the beauty of a place and to draw together, telling the story of different places,
each through their own style and technique.

The event will feature a live drawing session in the museum’s indoor and outdoor spaces,
where visitors will be able to see the Sketchers at work, intent on capturing the best
glimpses of the museum’s curvaceous, design-driven exteriors and the historic coffee
machines inside.
Drawing on location, capturing what they see from direct observation and telling the story
of their surroundings are some of the principles of the manifesto for the Sketchers, who
interpret drawing as a record of time and place, true to the moment and the scenes they
witness. Their motto is ‘We show the world, one drawing at a time’.
A rendezvous with beauty in every sense: a place rich in history opens its doors to many
gazes, ready to translate and narrate it into unique designs.
