In just short of three decades, the superautomatics surpassed the invention of the Cimbalino. This ‘express’ development will be celebrated during Milano Digital Week with a guided tour of TECHNOLOGY HEART, HUMAN MIND. Discover the human value behind these machines.
When Digital is not synonymous with technology but rather an aspect of technology that makes every process much easier and faster, it’s a signal that we’re entering a high-speed era, to the extent that an entire week can now be compressed into just four days.
And that is precisely what is taking place in metropolitan Milan from the 15th to 18th March: adults and children, techno geeks and inquiring minds alike will descend on the city for more than 400 events, exhibitions, seminars, presentations, conferences and workshops. It promises to be a celebration of innovation where the benefits of disseminating information digitally will be demonstrated at many venues.
Digital and people
Nonetheless, there are always people behind the billions of bits: people who work passionately and tirelessly, people who develop influential ground-breaking designs, people who listen to customers’ needs and have the courage to create unprecedented products. Such is the case of Cimbali, the eternal evangelist of high-quality coffee, producing machines that have revolutionised the very concept of Italian espresso. To commemorate its pioneering history, Cimbali extends a warm invitation to take the guided tour of a special exhibition at the MUMAC’s Hangar 100 in Binasco. The name says it all, but visiting TECHNOLOGY HEART, HUMAN MIND in person is an extraordinary multi-sensory experience that will literally immerse you in the culture of coffee.
“TECHNOLOGY HEART, HUMAN MIND”
The exhibition celebrates the extraordinary harmony between technological innovations and the people behind them – people who have worked day in, day out for countless years to make history at Cimbali.
TECHNOLOGY HEART, HUMAN MIND uses a special blend of reality and virtual reality to tell the Cimbali story through heritage, design and innovation, technology and the senses. Visitors will be immersed in a fluid space where paper-thin screens and displays divulge a new discovery at every turn, culminating in a kaleidoscopic chamber, the very climax in the Cimbali chronicle. Connect to the present and future of the LaCimbali brand through customers and employees, international operations, the Internet of things, the human-machine interface, the heavenly scent of coffee, technology and invention. Through 3D video mapping projections, interactive displays showcase amazing latte artworks and massive panels illustrate the new Superautomatic S30 design process from start to finish.
Coffee, hotbed of innovation
Superautomatics, such as the S30, have revolutionised the commercial espresso machine market. Likewise, technology is transforming our daily lives. A Google survey reveals that 90% of interactions occur online via smartphone, tablet and laptop, while Cisco projects more than 11 billion connected devices by 2019. However, as the TECHNOLOGY HEART, HUMAN MIND exhibition clearly demonstrates, we cannot ignore the human value behind them. Among the many options at Milano Digital Week, a visit to all the MUMAC exhibitions are a must, presenting an invigorating opportunity to rediscover the importance of coffee and significance to the history of Italy, as it was and still is a stimulus for true vision and veritable hotbed of innovation.
MUMAC, Sunday 18 March, from 2 to 5.30 pm, with a guided tour at 3.30 pm.
